GO INSIDE THE MOVIES
Oscar fans: We know how much you love movies. Now, with the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, we want to bring the magic of cinema to you year-round. This week the Academy Museum announced its inaugural exhibitions, including the long-term exhibition Where Dreams Are Made: A Journey Inside the Movies (working title). Looking at the development of the art and science of motion pictures, Where Dreams Are Made brings together evocative settings, key objects from the Academy’s unparalleled collections and the growing collection of the Museum itself, and an array of film installations. Additional exhibitions will include Making of: The Wizard of Oz, featuring elements that contributed to the creation of this iconic film, a history of the Academy Awards, and an Oscars® experience.

DEBUT TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS
The Museum will open with the exhibition Hayao Miyazaki (working title), presented in collaboration with Studio Ghibli—the first major retrospective of his work presented in the United States.
In addition, Tokyo-based art collective teamLab will present Transcending Boundaries, a site-specific, real-time, ever-changing environment that situates the viewer directly within the realm of the artwork.
SOTHEBY'S PRIZE
In Fall 2020, the Academy Museum will present Regeneration: Black Cinema 1900-1970, the first exhibition of its kind to explore the visual culture of Black cinema from its early days to just beyond the Civil Rights movement. Regeneration is the proud recipient of the 2018 Sotheby’s Prize, an annual award that supports and encourages museums to break new ground.
