Aicon Gallery is delighted to invite you to an Artist Talk and Open Studio with Kolkata-based artist Suhasini Kejriwal. The artist's recent works take place inside the contemporary Indian urban sphere, excavating the economies and individuals that comprise it.
On view will be recent embroidered photo composites that present densely populated visions across large-scale canvases of bustling urban scenes. Kaleidoscopic and bordering on the psychedelic, Kejriwal's paintings revel in minutiae, overflowing with information, and convey multiple viewpoints simultaneously. Her technique synthesizes the disciplines of painting, drawing, photography, and collage into a cohesive whole. As in her earlier works, the artist lavishes her attention on the surfaces of objects, articulating the differences of materials and replicating the infinite varieties to be found in both the natural and man-made worlds.
The artist will open up her residency space to viewers with a selection of works followed by a short presentation at 7 pm.

Suhasini Kejriwal received her BFA from Parsons School of Design, New York in 1998, and she completed a Post Graduate Diploma in 1999 and earned an MFA degree in 2006 from Goldsmith's College in London. Kejriwal has exhibited extensively both in India and internationally with solo shows in Berlin, Mumbai, and Delhi as well as participated in multiple exhibitions in museums and galleries all over the world.
