KING KONG poised to roar, on Broadway with a Black female lead

Eric William Morris, Christiani Pitts, and Erik Lochtefeld, the cast of KING KONG on Broadway

KING KONG  will open at the Broadway Theatre November 8. It follows previews that begin October 5, that's just around the corner.  Directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie (In the Heights), the show features a book written by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), a score by Marius de Vries (La La Land and Moulin Rouge!), and songs by Eddie Perfect (the upcoming Beetlejuice).
King Kong follows young actor Ann Darrow (Christiani Pitts) and filmmaker Carl Denham (Eric William Morris) as they voyage from 1930s New York to an uncharted island to capture a great, mysterious wonder.  The cast also features Erik Lochtefeld as Lumpy. At the center of this 21st-century re-imagining: a 20-foot high, 2,000-pound gorilla brought to life by a team of artists and technicians.  The production team also includes set and projection designer Peter England, costume designer Roger Kirk, lighting designer Peter Mumford, sound designer Peter Hylenski, aerial and movement director Gavin Robins, and hair designer Tom Watson, David Caddick is music supervisor with casting by Tara Rubin Casting. Johanna McKeon is the associate director, and the associate choreographer is Ellenore Scott.
