The pilot of DAVID MAKES MAN by written by Tarell Alvin McCraney (Moonlight) and executive produced by Oprah Winfrey and Michael B. Jordan is directed by writer/director Michael Francis Williams.

Mr. Williams made his TV directing debut with the launch of OWN’s David Makes Man and the pilot episode, which sets the visual tone of the entire series, is jaw-dropping 

Michael’s pilot also stars Phylicia Rashad.  The series was featured by Hollywood Reporter as part of its Best of SXSW 2019.

Director Michael Francis Williams is a British filmmaker whose narrative work focuses on unique stories of culture, identity and giving voice to marginalized figures. He wrote and directed “Mila” for NOWNESS’ Black Star series and “Stay Woke,” an editorial short for Afropunk, which showed at Venice Bienalle.

Michael is also a celebrated commercials helmer whose work spans from campaigns for Nike and Adidas and live events for Puma to intimate performance work for Sony. With a distinctive voice and keen visual sensibilities, he has shot ads with elite athletes and celebrities such as David Beckham, Lionel Messi, and Richard Branson. He is collaborating with British D&B music legend, DJ Krust, to create a new single and companion art film called “Anti-Gravity Love,” which will release later this year.
