Folks of color — allies in the struggle for equality and that includes one of the funniest, rising stars on the scene — Estefania Saavedra. This woman is funny and smart with over 1.9 million followers on TikTok and 80.9K followers on Twitter.
I started following Saavedra during COVID-19 and reached out. Here’s what I discovered. Estefania Saavedra is Ecuadorian-born, South Florida raised, and a powerhouse content creator and comedian based in Houston, Texas.
The uber funny Saavedra began creating content in 2020 as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic, using it as an outlet for her comedy, and to have fun, and to stay positive. She first gained notoriety when she introduced her “manitas” or - little hands - which she uses to emphasize her storytelling and comedy.
Her hilarious content also features a range of popular characters from Paco, the innocent, lady-loving, smooth operator with the pencil mustache to her “Baby Estefi,” a 6-year-old version of herself in various scenarios role-playing, and “Lolita,” the confident Puerto Rican New Yorker.
Estefania is also known for her “muecas” or exaggerated facial expressions and her bold makeup transformations she creates on her own or in collabs with other creators.
Singing since the age of 4, Estefania also loves to dance including Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and even shakes her hips to some Brazilian Samba. Her passion for making people laugh and creating positive experiences fuels her day-to-day content and she looks forward to continuing to grow across mediums for a long time to come.

QUESTION: What makes you so funny?
ESTEFANIA SAAVEDRA:
I never really saw myself as a funny person but more of a big goof. I just love to make people laugh and just seeing them happy and making their day, makes my day.
Q: Why the little hands?
ES: I saw another Tik Toker using the tiny hands and thought that was so hysterical. I decided to buy some tiny hands-on Amazon but never intended to do any videos with them, I just wanted to play with them! But once I got them in the mail, I told myself I have to do at least a few videos with them on, and low and behold, my second video with the tiny hands went viral.
Q: What does being on social media mean to your future career?
ES: Social media is growing so much so I would like to continue to post videos and get more exposure, that way it'll also open more doors for me in the future.

ES: [….] my parents brought us to this country and gave up everything they had, risked it all, not knowing the language, and worked hard to give us a better life.
