GIBNEY COMPANY ADDS SATURDAY MATINEE PERFORMANCE
TO SIX DAY RUN AT THE JOYCE THEATER

Debut Program include World Premieres of Works by
Sonya Tayeh, Alan Lucien Øyen, and Rena Butler

Due to high demand, Gibney Company has added a second matinee performance during its six-day run at The Joyce Theater. The anticipated debut of Gibney Company at The Joyce Theater in New York City features a program of three world premieres by Tony Award-nominated choreographer and director Sonya Tayeh (Moulin Rouge!); Norwegian writer, director, and choreographer Alan Lucien Øyen; and Gibney Company Choreographic Associate Rena Butler.

Tayeh’s work, titled Oh Courage!, will be performed to an original composition played live by indie-folk duo The Bengsons. The Game Is Rigged introduces New York City audiences to Øyen’s internationally acclaimed theatrical style incorporating movement, text, and visuals. Butler, a rising choreographer, and Gibney Choreographic Associate has created Lusus Naturae a trio exploring and reimagining the narrative of the film “King Kong” and its iconic, monolithic title character.
