As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the Mediterranean waters in a warm golden hue, the Carnival Venezia cruise ship came alive with an aura of anticipation. Its vibrant lights illuminated the night, inviting passengers from all walks of life to embark on a journey promising enchantment, adventure, and unforgettable memories. Under the starlit sky, a spectacle unfolded, weaving magic into the very fabric of their lives.
My wife and I embarked on our first cruise aboard Carnival Venezia from August 14 to August 19, 2023, sailing to Canada and New England. The Venezia cruise ship, adorned with a Venice-themed design, offered us a six-day adventure filled with delightful experiences that will forever hold a place in our hearts.
The ship’s amenities were nothing short of exceptional. From the thrilling waterpark and serene spa to the lively casino and captivating theater, Carnival Venezia catered to a wide range of entertainment preferences. Evenings were spent at the SportSquare, enjoying its running track, pickleball and basketball court, mini-golf, and gym. Carnival Waterworks, boasting three water slides, provided endless joy, while the delectable offerings at the Lido Marketplace ensured our taste buds were thoroughly indulged.
A culinary highlight was our evening at Il Viaggio, the ship's new Italian restaurant. Nestled in an atmosphere of elegance, the restaurant offered a menu showcasing regional specialties of Italy. We relished the executive chef’s Parmigiana Pizza, a unique creation with a crispy chicken crust, and concluded our meal with the heavenly Tiramisu al Caffè e Cioccolato Bianco. Paired with exquisite wines and cocktails, it was an Italian culinary experience like no other.
Days at sea were spent in tranquility at Serenity Deck, an adults-only retreat with loungers, cabanas, whirlpools, and a bar. My wife treated herself to a pampering session at the Cloud 9 Spa, indulging in massages that left her rejuvenated. The vibrant nightlife onboard, coupled with daily events such as live music, theater performances, dance parties, and outdoor movie screenings, kept us entertained throughout our voyage.
Our itinerary included stops at Saint John and Halifax, where we explored the rich cultural tapestry of these cities. The Saint John’s Hop On Hop Off bus tour was a delightful way to acquaint ourselves with the city’s landmarks, including Quidi Vidi Village and Carleton Martello Tower. In Halifax, we marveled at the historic Halifax Citadel and delved into maritime history at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The waterfront boardwalk offered a plethora of culinary delights against the backdrop of a sunny day.
Carnival Venezia’s meticulous attention to service ensured a seamless vacation experience. The efficient express offboarding was a testament to the cruise line's commitment to guest satisfaction. Our cruise was a harmonious blend of fun, relaxation, and discovery, leaving us with cherished memories.
