Deadline Approaching for 96th Academy Awards Submissions and Inclusion Standards
Filmmakers aiming for consideration in the 96th Academy Awards® are reminded that November 15 is the final day to submit Oscars® Submission Forms (OSF) in the general entry categories and Representation and Inclusion Standards Entry (RAISE) forms for Best Picture consideration to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This deadline is crucial, as films will not be accepted for consideration after this date.
For a feature film to be considered, the film’s distributor or producer must upload a scanned, signed copy of the OSF and legal billing (complete on-screen credits) via the submission website. The submission deadline is 5 p.m. PT on November 15.
While credits must be submitted by November 15, feature films have until December 31 to open in a commercial motion picture theater in one of the six qualifying U.S. metro areas: Los Angeles County; City of New York [five boroughs]; the Bay Area [counties of San Francisco, Marin, Alameda, San Mateo, and Contra Costa]; Chicago [Cook County, Illinois]; Miami [Miami-Dade County, Florida]; and Atlanta [Fulton County, Georgia]. During this time, the film must run for a minimum of seven consecutive days, with screenings occurring at least three times daily, and at least one screening beginning between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. daily to be eligible for 2023 Awards consideration.
Eligibility for the Best Picture category requires submitting the confidential Academy Inclusion Standards form and meeting two of the four standards. Filmmakers can opt out of Best Picture consideration if they choose. The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. PT on November 15. Access the RAISE platform at raise.oscars.org and OSFs at submissions.oscars.org. For additional information about RAISE and Best Picture eligibility, contact RAISE@oscars.org.
Complete rules for the 96th Academy Awards can be found at www.oscars.org/oscars/rules-eligibility.

The final day to upload a film to the “For Your Consideration” section on the Academy Screening Room member-only streaming site is December 19, 2023.
Entries in the animated feature, documentary feature, international feature, and short film categories are subject to special rules and qualifying criteria, and the submission deadline for these specialty categories has already passed.
Nominations for the 96th Academy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
