Empowering HBCU Talent: Spike Lee, Gersh Agency, and Ralph Lauren Join Forces

In an exciting union of fashion and entertainment, renowned filmmaker Spike Lee, along with the esteemed Gersh Agency, has forged a dynamic partnership with Ralph Lauren to support the Spike Lee Fellows HBCU Program. This collaboration aims to provide high-impact professional attire to the participants, marking a significant stride toward fostering inclusivity and opportunity for Black talent.

Jayson Council, Head of Culture at Gersh, highlighted the profound significance of this collaboration, stating, "What makes this cross-industry partnership so meaningful is that it’s rooted in longstanding relationships where all parties share an unwavering commitment to providing access to transformative opportunities specifically for Black talent."

Launched just last year, the Spike Lee Fellows program is dedicated to nurturing the creative potential of undergraduate students from the Atlanta University Center Consortium. Comprising Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University, these Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) serve as incubators for aspiring talents with a passion for the entertainment industry. Each year, five exceptional HBCU students are selected for the program, offering them invaluable experiences both on and off-camera, paving the way for future industry leaders.

In a remarkable success story from the program's inaugural year, all five fellows secured full-time positions at Gersh after completing an immersive 8-week paid summer internship at the agency's offices in New York and Los Angeles. To support their transition into the professional sphere, Ralph Lauren generously provided a curated selection of products along with individual styling appointments for the first cohort of Spike Lee Fellows.

Expressing gratitude for Ralph Lauren's contribution, Spike Lee remarked, "Big Thanks to the good folks at Ralph Lauren for blessing our HBCU fellowship program with fashion for the seasons. We and the students truly appreciate it, peace and Love Ya-DIG SHO-NUFF?"

As Gersh opens applications for the second class of Spike Fellows, this collaboration underscores a shared commitment to empowering and uplifting HBCU talent in the entertainment industry.
