HAIR BY: Celebrity Hairstylist Miles Jeffries for Maui Moisture and Olivia Garden
PRODUCTS + HOW TO:
Hairstylist Miles Jeffries used Maui Moisture products and Olivia Garden styling tools to create Ayo Edebiri’s dreamy updo. Miles was inspired by the sleeping beauty theme of the MET, translating it into sensorial craft.
To get Ayo’s chic look, Miles started by prepping her damp hair with Maui Moisture Frizz-Free + Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning Mist ($10). After thoroughly detangling, he neatly sectioned the hair into quadrants, twisting and clipping to keep the hair organized.
He then went in with Olivia Garden Super HP Dryer ($299 - launching at Ulta 5/12) using the comb attachment to dry and stretch each section. Once the hair is 100% dry, Miles sprayed Maui Moisture Nourish & Moisture + Coconut Milk Weightless Oil Mist ($7) before flat ironing with the Olivia Garden Ceramic + Ion Flat Iron ($110). Using the mist before hot tools added a layer of heat protection and gave the hair beautiful luster and shine. Because he pulled the hair back, he used a bit extra for some added control.
After the desired texture was achieved, working off of a center part, Miles organized the hair in a low ponytail leaving some pieces out by the ear to create balance and add softness.
To finish the look, he used 3D cotton flower guipure that was hand painted and hand embroidered to sculpt a hairpiece that he then wrapped into place with her hair.
