Broadway’s Othello Unites Denzel Washington, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Stellar Cast for a Limited Engagement

Broadway is set to welcome a powerhouse production of Othello, featuring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal in a strictly limited 15-week run at the Barrymore Theatre. With previews starting February 24, 2025, and an opening night on March 23, 2025, this rendition of Shakespeare’s gripping tale of betrayal, jealousy, and tragedy is directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon and produced by Brian Anthony Moreland.

In this electrifying new production, Washington takes on the role of Othello, the revered Moor of Venice, while Gyllenhaal will portray Iago, the cunning lieutenant bent on revenge. Joining them are Tony Award winner Andrew Burnap as ‘Cassio,’ Molly Osborne as ‘Desdemona,’ Anthony Michael Lopez as ‘Roderigo,’ Daniel Pearce as ‘Brabantio,’ and Kimber Elayne Sprawl as ‘Emilia,’ making up a remarkable cast that’s sure to bring fresh intensity to Shakespeare’s timeless work.

This production of Othello boasts an award-winning creative team, including scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design by Justin Ellington, and hair and wig design by Mia Neal, with numerous other theater heavyweights contributing to its vision. Together, they aim to transport audiences into the charged world of Venice and Cyprus, where passion and intrigue lead to devastating consequences.
