The Entertainment Community Fund, formerly known as The Actors Fund, has officially announced details for its Annual Gala, set to take place on Monday, April 21, 2025, in New York City. This prestigious event will honor two giants of the entertainment industry: Tony and Academy Award winner Denzel Washington and Theater Owner and Producer James L. Nederlander, who will receive the Fund’s esteemed Medal of Honor. Additional honorees and special guests will be announced in the coming months, building anticipation for this star-studded evening.

The Gala will take place at the New York Marriott Marquis (1535 Broadway), beginning with cocktails at 6 PM ET and followed by dinner and tributes at 7 PM ET. Guests will enjoy special performances and presentations while supporting the Fund’s vital programs that provide stability and a safety net for professionals working in film, television, theater, music, and dance.

Joe Benincasa, President and CEO of the Entertainment Community Fund, shared his thoughts on the honorees:

“It’s a privilege to honor Jimmy Nederlander and Denzel Washington. They are luminaries in our industry, both for the work they’ve created and for their commitment to uplifting emerging talent. With the Fund’s Medal of Honor, we recognize their distinguished careers and their leadership.”

Denzel Washington has left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment over his four-decade career. From his Academy Award-winning performances in Glory and Training Day to his Tony Award-winning role in Fences, Washington’s contributions have shaped the landscape of theater, film, and television. His return to Broadway in spring 2025 as Othello, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, promises to be another unforgettable chapter in his illustrious career.

James L. Nederlander, President and CEO of The Nederlander Organization, has carried on his family’s legacy in live entertainment for over a century. From venue ownership and management to theatrical production and concert presentation, Nederlander has been instrumental in transforming the live entertainment industry while also supporting emerging talent and charitable initiatives.

Tickets for the benefit start at $1,750, with tables available beginning at $15,000. Proceeds will support the Fund’s efforts to foster resilience and stability for members of the entertainment community.
