Broadway’s Grammy Award-Winning Hell’s Kitchen Announces Departures of Original Cast Members Maleah Joi Moon and Brandon Victor Dixon
Broadway's hit musical Hell’s Kitchen has announced the departure of two of its Original Broadway Cast members. Tony Award and Grammy Award winner Maleah Joi Moon and Tony Award nominee and Grammy Award winner Brandon Victor Dixon will be leaving the show next month.
Brandon Victor Dixon, who originated and earned a Tony Award nomination for his performance as “Davis,” will play his final performance on Sunday, March 9. The role will be recast, with a replacement to be announced in the coming weeks.
Maleah Joi Moon, who originated the role of “Ali” and won a Tony Award for their performance, will perform their final show on Sunday, March 30. The talented Jade Milan, currently the understudy for Ali, will take over the role through May 25, 2025, with Gianna Harris serving as the alternate. Further casting for Ali will be announced at a later date.
The powerhouse cast of Hell’s Kitchen also includes Jessica Vosk, Tony Award nominee Brandon Victor Dixon, Tony Award winner Kecia Lewis, Phillip Johnson Richardson, and Tony Award winner Maleah Joi Moon. Directed by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif, with choreography by Camille A. Brown, Hell’s Kitchen features music by Alicia Keys, combining her greatest hits with brand-new songs.
Set in 1990s New York, Hell’s Kitchen tells the poignant coming-of-age story of Ali, a rebellious 17-year-old girl seeking freedom, passion, and a sense of belonging. Lost and stifled by an overprotective mother, Ali’s journey of self-discovery begins when she meets a mentor—a neighbor who introduces her to the life-changing power of the piano. Hell’s Kitchen is a love story about a mother and daughter and the community that lifts them up, set against the backdrop of a city that never sleeps.
