One such moment took place at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, where a one-night-only Bring the Noise: The Wild Robot event featured Academy Award-nominated composer Kris Bowers. The evening offered a rare opportunity to hear Bowers discuss his craft, as he sat down with fellow composer Justin Hurwitz (La La Land, Whiplash) to break down the making of one of this season’s most captivating film scores.

Best Original Score Academy Award® nominated composer Kris Bowers sat down with composer Justin Hurwitz (La La Land, Whiplash) to talk about his career, his musical creative process and how he crafted one of the most enchanting scores of the season for The Wild Robot. 

Kris Bowers is an Academy Award-winning filmmaker, Emmy and Grammy-nominated composer and pianist. His 2024 score for DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot has been nominated for an Academy Award, by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and by the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL).

The Wild Robot, which has earned three Academy Award nominations, including for Best Animated Feature Film, is written and directed by four-time Academy Award nominee Chris Sanders and stars Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o, Emmy winner Pedro Pascal, Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu, Oscar nominee Bill Nighy and Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara.
