COCO JONES on GLAMOUR cover

COCO JONES ON EVOLUTION, CONFIDENCE, AND CLAIMING HER CROWN — GLAMOUR’S MAY 2025 COVER STORY

Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Coco Jones graces the cover of Glamour’s May issue, radiating the bold confidence of an artist fully stepping into her power. In a candid conversation with Glamour editor Ariana Yaptangco, Jones opens up about her journey from child stardom to music industry heavyweight, her deep-rooted family values, and the fearless creative leap behind her debut album, Why Not More.

The digital cover is paired with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and a hand-curated Spotify playlist by Jones herself, featuring the music that’s shaped her path from Disney to the Grammys.

On taking risks and redefining herself:

“‘Taste’ is the scariest thing I’ve done in a while,” she admits, referring to her recent single. “I didn’t know if people were going to like that for me. I thought they maybe had already decided, ‘You’re the girl who sings. You don’t dance like this, you don’t talk like this. You’re not sexy like this. You do a little one-two, and that’s where you stay.’ And so I had to be willing to jump.”

On growing up competitive:

“I was there to kill. I was so competitive. It was literally a problem. Like, ‘Girl, you can’t win every time.’ But I did them all.”

On the family motto that shaped her:

“Joneses don’t say can’t,” she says proudly. “[My family] taught us a certain tenacity at a young age that made us feel like we could do anything, even if it was difficult.”

On protecting her peace:

“I would never cancel on my therapist. She does not play about that shit,” she says with a laugh. “There is one exception though. I’ll be like, ‘Girl, Beyoncé called me,’ and then she’ll get it.”

On joining the ranks of Disney royalty:

“Obviously, being a princess would be so sickening. I already am that, so all I can do is put on the outfit. Like hello? I think of Halle Bailey and Ariel. That will change the course of the future, so I would love to be a part of that.”

From speaking her truth to rewriting the rules, Coco Jones is proving that betting on yourself is always in style.
