First Look: Ashley Graham and Sophie Carmen-Jones in
Chicago on Broadway
New production photos have just been released, offering a first look at Ashley Graham as Roxie Hart and Sophie Carmen-Jones as Velma Kelly in Broadway’s longest-running American musical, Chicago.
Now playing at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th Street), Chicago is celebrating its 28th year on Broadway—an achievement as sharp as the show’s wit and as bold as its legendary choreography.
Graham steps into the role of Roxie Hart, bringing her signature charisma to the iconic housewife-turned-headline-grabber. Carmen-Jones brings edge and precision to Velma Kelly, Roxie’s rival in crime and fame.
They’re joined by a cast of Broadway standouts:
-
Max von Essen as Billy Flynn
-
Rema Webb as Matron “Mama” Morton
-
Greg Hildreth as Amos Hart
-
R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine
Ensemble members include Tia Altinay, David Bushman, Jessica Ernest, John Michael Fiumara, Jeff Gorti, Chelsea James, Marty Lawson, Joseph London, Barrett Martin, Sharon Moore, Drew Nellessen, Celina Nightengale, Kristen Faith Oei, Denny Paschall, Jermaine R. Rembert, Mikayla Renfrow, Rachel Schur, and Michael Scirrotto.
Directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by the late Ann Reinking, the musical features scenic design by John Lee Beatty, costumes by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington, and sound by Scott Lehrer. Casting is by ARC/Duncan Stewart, CSA & Patrick Maravilla. Alecia Parker serves as Executive Producer.
Set against the backdrop of 1920s decadence, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who murders her lover and manipulates the media to transform her crime into a tabloid sensation. With its timeless score, biting satire, and signature Fosse-inspired movement, Chicago remains a sharp reflection of fame, corruption, and justice.
Tickets for Chicago are available at chicagothemusical.com or at the Ambassador Theatre box office.
