Star Power and Storytelling: Tribeca Festival Announces 2025 Jury Lineup Across Film, Games, and Audio

The Tribeca Festival, presented by OKX, has revealed the full lineup of jurors for its 2025 edition, assembling more than 30 esteemed artists and industry experts to judge work across 15 competitive categories in film, audio storytelling, and gaming. This year’s festival will run from June 4–15, with the awards ceremony scheduled for June 12.

The 2025 jury includes a dynamic mix of Oscar winners, trailblazing producers, acclaimed authors, global actors, and genre-defying artists. Among the high-profile names are Jennifer Beals, Matthew Broderick, Ilana Glazer, Art Linson, Kyle MacLachlan, and Mira Sorvino—each bringing their distinctive perspectives to spotlight emerging storytellers from around the world.

“We’re proud to welcome an eclectic group of jurors to this year’s Tribeca Festival,” said Nancy Lefkowitz, EVP at Tribeca Enterprises. “Their breadth of expertise across genres will be instrumental in recognizing standout storytellers and honoring bold new voices.”

The Festival’s top honors span narrative and documentary features, short films, games, and audio fiction. The Nora Ephron Award, a staple of Tribeca’s mission to amplify underrepresented voices, returns to honor an outstanding female filmmaker whose work embodies the spirit of the late writer and director.

From Cult Icons to Studio Powerhouses

The jurors represent a cross-section of the entertainment industry. Filmmaker Nia DaCosta, known for Candyman and The Marvels, joins producer Art Linson (Fight Club, Heat, Yellowstone) and novelist Colson Whitehead, whose Pulitzer-winning books are shaping both literature and screen adaptations.

In the international narrative category, Succession’s Dagmara Dominczyk, Italian auteur Valeria Golino, and acclaimed British actor Toby Jones will deliberate alongside David Laub of Metrograph Pictures and actor-producer Kyle MacLachlan.

The documentary competition is equally robust, with Jim Henson Idea Man producer Sara Bernstein, two-time Oscar-winning director Ben Proudfoot, and activist-actor Mira Sorvino lending their vision.

Notably, Matthew Broderick heads the Best New Narrative Director jury. His long career—from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off to Painkiller—brings gravitas to the discovery of first-time filmmakers. He’s joined by Eliza Hittman, director of Never Rarely Sometimes Always, and industry executive Sejin Croninger.

Highlighting New Voices

The Best New Documentary Director jury includes Kristine Stolakis, known for Pray Away; Sean Stuart, producer of The Blue Angels; and Jamila Wignot, director of Ailey and Stax: Soulsville USA.

For the Nora Ephron Award, which celebrates bold, female-led storytelling, jurors include Caroline Aaron (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Aijah Keith (Hulu), and Emmy-winner Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek).

Actor-writer Brian Jordan Alvarez, Flashdance star Jennifer Beals, and actor-director Raúl Castillo join the Viewpoints jury—dedicated to innovative storytelling. Alex Karpovsky and Mickey Sumner, both established indie talents, round out the panel.

Tribeca's Commitment to Shorts, Games, and Audio

In the shorts category, Ilana Glazer (Broad City), Asher Grodman (Ghosts), and producing legend Sheila Nevins will review both narrative and animated short entries. Joining them are Pamela Ribon (My Year of Dicks) and Moon Zappa, who bring animation and memoir-based storytelling credentials.

The short documentary and student visionary jury includes comedian Ahmed Ahmed, musician Weyes Blood, and breakout star Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms), alongside Danish producer Kim Magnusson and culture creator Kareem Rahma.

Gaming’s evolution as a storytelling medium continues to grow at Tribeca, with industry veterans Meggan Scavio, Harvey Smith, and Shuhei Yoshida judging the 2025 games competition.

In audio storytelling, Sophie Crane (Transom Story Lab), James Kim (MOONFACE), and Dr. Chioke l’Anson (RESONATE Podcast Festival) will lead the jury for fiction podcasts.

AT&T Untold Stories: Celebrating Inclusion

The AT&T Untold Stories Greenlight Committee returns to award a $1 million grant to an underrepresented filmmaker. This year’s committee includes filmmaker Andrew Ahn (The Wedding Banquet), Color Book director David Fortune, Oscar-nominee Stephanie Hsu, and Golden Globe winner Gina Rodriguez, among others.

About Tribeca Festival

Founded in 2001 by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff, the Tribeca Festival was created to stimulate economic and cultural revitalization in downtown Manhattan after 9/11. In 2019, James Murdoch’s Lupa Systems joined forces with De Niro and Rosenthal to expand Tribeca’s global reach.

Now celebrating its 24th year, the festival has become a hub for creativity across mediums, from immersive experiences and virtual reality to podcasts and indie games. It continues to champion original voices and bold artistic vision.
