A 'Chorus Line' to Celebrate 50 Years With One-Night-Only Broadway Concert

The Entertainment Community Fund, in partnership with Tony Award-winning producers Christopher Ketner and Hunter Regian, will mark the 50th anniversary of A Chorus Line with a one-night-only concert at the Shubert Theatre on Sunday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m.

The event, a benefit for the Fund’s programs supporting dancers, will reunite several original cast members from the landmark 1975 production, including Kelly Bishop, Wayne Cilento, Baayork Lee, Priscilla Lopez, and Donna McKechnie.

Additional performers slated to appear include Charlotte d'Amboise, Jessica Lee Goldyn, Robyn Hurder, Francis Jue, Krysta Rodriguez, Jessica Vosk, Anthony Wayne, Tony Yazbeck, and Olivier Award-winner Leigh Zimmerman. Further casting will be announced in the coming weeks.

The evening will be directed by Baayork Lee, who originated the role of Connie in the original Broadway production. Lee will also restage the show's original choreography by Michael Bennett and Bob Avian.

Tickets will be available beginning Monday, June 30, at noon ET via entertainmentcommunity.org/achorusline50. All proceeds from the evening will go toward the Fund’s initiatives for dancers and performing artists in need.

“We are thrilled to celebrate 50 years of A Chorus Line with this one-night-only spectacular,” said Joe Benincasa, president and CEO of the Entertainment Community Fund. “This milestone not only honors the legacy of the show but supports the dance community that made it possible.”

Lee added: “It warms my heart to return to the Shubert Theatre, our home for 15 years. I know Michael and Bob are smiling down, proud that their work lives on. Here’s to another 50 years.”

A Chorus Line, conceived and originally directed by Michael Bennett with music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban, and a book by James Kirkwood Jr. and Nicholas Dante, premiered at the Shubert Theatre on July 25, 1975. It went on to win nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and remained on Broadway for 15 years, becoming the longest-running show of its time with 6,137 performances.

The anniversary concert is presented with special arrangement by Concord Theatricals and with permission from John Breglio on behalf of the Michael Bennett Estate.
