Jaime Lozano & The Familia to Perform One-Night-Only
Concert at Sony Hall Featuring Broadway Powerhouses
August 25
On August 25, the richly layered sounds of Latinx storytelling will take center stage at Sony Hall as acclaimed composer Jaime Lozano presents “Jaime Lozano & The Familia”, a one-night-only celebration coinciding with the release of his highly anticipated new album, Songs by an Immigrant Vol. 3.
The concert, produced in collaboration with Concord Theatricals Recordings, will bring together an impressive roster of performers representing the best of Broadway and beyond. Among those set to appear are Florencia Cuenca (Real Women Have Curves), Krystina Alabado (Mean Girls), Didi Romero (Six), and Robin De Jesús (In the Heights), alongside rising talents like Xavier Zazueta and Mayelah Barrera.
Described as a musical mosaic by Lin-Manuel Miranda—who called Lozano “the next big thing” on Broadway—the Songs by an Immigrant series gives voice to the personal and political realities of the immigrant experience in the United States. With songs that explore identity, displacement, language, and perseverance, Vol. 3 continues Lozano’s tradition of blending Mexican folk, musical theatre, and contemporary Latin rhythms.
“Community is what has helped me to get through during these challenging times,” Lozano said in a recent statement. “This concert is a celebration of our community. A celebration of who we are. I speak up using my music, my songs.”
Lozano, a native of Monterrey, Mexico, has become a vital voice in contemporary musical theatre. A graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where he was the first Mexican accepted into the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, Lozano has built an expansive career that spans Lincoln Center, The Public Theater, and European tours. His work bridges cultures while centering Latinx narratives often underrepresented on major stages.
Backed by an 18-piece band of New York’s top musicians, the evening promises a genre-bending journey through stories that are deeply personal yet widely resonant. The concert will also feature Ana Villafañe (On Your Feet!), Rodney Ingram (Aladdin), Tamar Greene (Hamilton), Marina Pires (How To Dance In Ohio), Joel Perez (Fun Home), Latin GRAMMY® winner Jair Alcalá, and others.
The venue, Sony Hall, is itself a character in the unfolding celebration. Housed beneath the Paramount Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, the historic space was originally opened in 1938 as the Diamond Horseshoe. Sony Corporation’s 2018 reinvention of the space preserved its gilded charm while outfitting it with cutting-edge sound and visual technology, creating a hybrid haven for both legacy and innovation.
The concert marks the latest collaboration between Lozano and Concord Theatricals Recordings, whose catalog includes Into the Woods (2022 Broadway revival), Some Like It Hot, and Mr. Saturday Night. The label continues to champion voices that reflect the evolving face of American theater.
“Jaime honors that journey and breathes astonishing musical life into it,” Miranda said. “He’s done ten times the work to bring you this mosaic.”
Songs by an Immigrant Vol. 3 will be available globally on streaming and digital platforms beginning August 22. Tickets for the August 25 concert at Sony Hall are available now via the venue’s website.
