'Farfour: A War Diary from Gaza' World Premieres at DOC NYC, November 15

A poignant new 14-minute documentary, "Farfour: A War Diary from Gaza," will have its world premiere at DOC NYC on November 15 at 4:30 PM, screening at the Village East by Angelika theater.

This short film offers an intimate glimpse into life amidst the siege of Gaza through the eyes of Ibrahim, a theater actor who loses nearly everything to war—except for Farfour, a stray cat who becomes his companion and symbol of hope.

Filmed under life-threatening conditions in Gaza and co-directed remotely from exile, Farfour stands as a rare artistic testament from within the war zone. It captures not only the tragic losses suffered but also Ibrahim’s resilience and enduring humanity amidst extraordinary suffering.

The documentary is directed by Ahmed Deeb and Moaz Hosni, with editing by Jeremiah Bailey-Hoover and others, and features haunting music composed by Rodwan Mahmalji. It provides a deeply human narrative against the backdrop of ongoing conflict, shedding light on everyday courage in the besieged Palestinian territory.

Jeremiah Bailey-Hoover, the film editor, will be present at DOC NYC for a post-screening Q&A and available for interviews, offering audiences a chance to engage directly with the creative team behind this powerful work.

"Farfour: A War Diary from Gaza" invites attendees not only to witness a story of survival but to connect with the enduring spirit of those living through war.
