Netflix does love a party, and last weekend at the Tribeca Festival, the streamer found a particularly fitting excuse: a special screening of the third and final season of Survival of the Thickest, the big-hearted comedy led by Michelle Buteau.

The evening opened with remarks from executive producer and showrunner Amy Aniobi, before the audience settled in for the first two episodes of the show’s final season. The room was filled with fans, friends, cast and crew — the kind of crowd that laughs loudly, reacts early and lets a joke breathe exactly as long as it needs to.

After the screening, Buteau — the series’ creator, writer, executive producer and star — joined guest star Amber Ruffin for a Q&A that had the easy rhythm of two very funny women who know exactly when to land a punchline and when to let sincerity take the wheel. By the end, the crowd was on its feet, giving Buteau a standing ovation for a series that has always understood glamour, grief, friendship, romance, and shapewear as equally serious matters.

Cast members Marouane Zotti, Peppermint, Liza Treyger, Wouri Vice, Allan K. Washington, Dan Amboyer, Dan Ahdoot, Nore Davis, Brian Marc, and Rotimi Paul were among those in attendance. Eric André and Bevy Smith were also spotted at the celebration.

For anyone who has not yet joined the congregation, Survival of the Thickest follows Mavis Beaumont, a stylist rebuilding her life, career, and confidence with wit, nerve, and a wardrobe that refuses to apologize for taking up space.

The third and final season of Survival of the Thickest premieres globally on Netflix on July 2, 2026.
