The Blackhouse Foundation, Sundance 2019

The Blackhouse Foundation attracted enthusiastic participation from a star-studded crowd of attendees. Maintaining the electrifying pace adding to yet another series of unforgettable moments for the culture and thought-provoking conversations. 

Guests included Jesse Williams, Terrence J., Terri Vaughn, Kelly Price, MAJOR., Kamasi Washington, Amanda Seales, Bevy Smith, and Jesse Collins.

Sunday started with the AT&T Dream in Black presents “Dream in Black Sunday Brunch." The brunch kicked off with a dynamic rendition of "Precious Lord" by nine-time Grammy-nominated R&B singer Kelly Price. The event was also moderated by Terrence J. who lead an in-depth discussion on the impact of Amazing Grace, which is a documentary focused on the late Aretha Franklin's legacy and Franklin's dynamic performance with the choir at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Watts, Los Angeles in January 1972. Event goers received a treat from Tirrell Whittley the producer of the new documentary as he showed a 10-minute clip of Franklin's iconic recording of the album in Los Angeles.

Next up, visitors got to experience a piece of music and television history inside and out during BET Networks presents American Soul The Untold Story of Soul Train. This event included an extended sneak peek of the show, as well as a live discussion on the impact Soul Train played on not only the music industry but in the community. The panelists included Jesse Collins, Sinqua Walls, Kelly Price, Jason Dirden, and Devon Gregory.

To cap off the day, the final event was the HBO presents “I Be Knowin” a Candid Convo with Amanda Seales. The event included an intimate interview by Bevy Smith of Insecure star Amanda Seales. 

But to fully close out the evening, Blackhouse hosted the "Selah and the Spades" Premiere After Party. The event was attended by the filmmakers and cast members of the film, including Jesse Williams. CHECK OUT "Selah and the Spades" HERE!
