Aint Too Proud – The Life and Times of the Temptations

Well, hello Broadway. Its a beautiful feeling, knowing that the songs being sung in the Tony Award-winning musical Aint Too Proud – The Life and Times of the Temptations” is back, and last weekend, the opening night event brought out the whos-who on stage and screen.


You can imagine the excitement that rippled through the crowd since the Broadway blockbuster was closed for 18 months. 


Lets roll it back, before COVID-9. The musical opened on Broadway on March 21, 2019, and was nominated for 12 Tony Awards, and won the 2019 Tony Award for Best Choreography. This isnt an easy story to tell because The Temptationsrise from the streets of Detroit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was nothing short of miraculous. On stage, the performances include their signature dance moves and unmistakable harmonies. 


This group is a legend having risen to the top of the charts creating an amazing 42 Top Ten Hits with 14 reaching number one. Some of their hits include My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Get Ready,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone,” and so many more.


The return to Broadway is great news for hundreds of people who make their living in the theater, including uber-publicist and Aint Too Proud” associate-producer, Linda Stewart, Owner of It is Done Communications.

Stewart has an extensive background in public relations, marketing, advertising, promotions, event coordination, and management, and grassroots/niche outreach marketing. Her reputation continues to rise becoming the undeniable go-to” specializing in grassroots press and marketing. Her credits are lengthy and include some of Broadway's most beloved and critically acclaimed shows and tours including Oprah Winfrey presents The Color Purple, FELA!, Dreamgirls, The Gershwins' Porgy & Bess, After Midnight – Broadways Cotton Club Musical, as well as regional presentations on the West Coast of August Wilsons Joe Turners Come and Gone, directed by Phylicia Rashad, Smokey Joes Café, Twelve Angry Men, The Royale, The Scottsboro Boys and The Tallest Tree in The Forest, just to name a few. She is one of the few PR/marketing executives in the country that has successfully handled campaigns in almost every sector of the entertainment industry from stage to big screen to music and comedy.


In addition to overseeing urban press, marketing, and outreach for the Broadway hit, she also now serves as Associate Producer of Aint Too Proud, her first Broadway producer credit.


Here is what Aint Too Proud” associate-producer, Linda Stewart, Owner of It is Done Communications had to share about the Tony-Awarding winning musical return to Broadway after 18 months. 


AMSTERDAM NEWS:  What does the Broadway re-opening of Aint Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations, mean to you?


LINDA STEWART: Giving this world something to look forward to that renews their hope and their joy and their love are what we experienced. 

AMN: What’s the best thing about the show returning on Broadway?

LS: To be in the Imperial Theatre on the re-opening night was like no other. The energy, the excitement, the way healing hearts was taking place was unbelievable. It was transformative and powerful beyond words to witness. The re-Opening night was truly a reflection of the soul, minds, and hearts of the cast who have given their all to change what we call Broadway and elevate the senses of all who experience them on the stage. What's taking place at The Imperial is more than just song and dance, it's healing. It's given us something we so desperately needed then and even more now, especially after the 584 days that led up to it. 


Aint Too Proud – The Life and Times of the Temptations feature Nik Walker as Otis Williams,James Harkness as Paul Williams,Jawan M. Jackson as Melvin Franklin,Matt Manuel as David Ruffin,and Jelani Remy as Eddie Kendricks.The Broadway cast also features Esther Antoine, Saint Aubyn, E. Clayton Cornelious, J.
