BROADWAY ROUND UP

“Chicken & Biscuits”

The holidays are right around the corner and so is a brand, new year. Here’s what’s happening on Broadway and do try to keep up.  The tourists are back and flocking to the theater.  Just be mindful to protect yourself and others from possible COVID-19 infection. Wear your mask. Clean your hands. Test often.

At “Chicken & Biscuits” the great Broadway veteran Norm Lewis is starring in a Broadway play that isn’t a musical. Most fans know him from his performances in “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Sweeney Todd,” and “Porgy and Bess.”

Also on the new episode of “Stagecraft,” Lewis revealed why “Chicken & Biscuits” reminds him of his own family; talked about his work with Black Theatre United; and extolled the virtues of mushroom coffee.

In Variety’s podcast “Stagecraft,” Lewis revealed why “Chicken & Biscuits” reminds him of his own family; talked about his work.

“Caroline or Change”

At the powerful “Caroline or Change” the first thing an audience sees is a looming, big statue of a Confederate soldier which will eventually get torn down as an act of protest.

In Variety’s “Stagecraft” podcast ( https://bit.ly/3I0glit ) they chat with actress Anika Noni Rose (“Maid,” “Jingle Jangle,” “The Princess and the Frog”) who won a Tony Award for her performance as Emmie, the title character’s daughter, in the first Broadway run of “Caroline, or Change.” “Statues are coming down!”
