Oscar facts and triva

Despite the challenges of COVID-19, there were actually 276 films that technically qualified for Best Picture for the 94th Oscars. And there were 92 films submitted from countries under the International Feature Film category.  That’s a lot of material for voting members to evaluate.  As of filing the number of vomiting members was 9,487 as of 1.24.2022.

The most recognized trophy in the world known simply as “Oscar” is modeled after Mexican filmmaker and actor Emilio Fernandez.

Here's how the statues are made. Take a look!

The Academy Awards has a U.S. audience hovering 10.4 million with an estimated global viewership of several million with more than 200 countries viewing the telecast.

There will be 48 Oscar statuettes given out at the 93rd Oscars with 23 in the competitive award categories.  Honorary Awards (Oscar statuette) were presented to Samuel L. Jackson, Elaine May, and Liv Ullmann; Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award (Oscar statuette) was also given to Danny Glover.

In case you were wondering (I was) there has been 3,290 Oscar statuettes presented since the first Academy Awards. This tiny statute ( 13½ inches tall), and weights 8½ pounds.
