Oscar Producer Will Packer on "The Big Tigger Morning Show" Spills the Beans on Sunday's live performances

Oscar producer Will Packer joined V-103’s The Big Tigger Morning Show to discuss the 2022 Oscars this weekend and the headlining performances scheduled this Sunday, March 27th.

Praising the three hosts: Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes hosting the Oscars, Packer (who is producing with Shayla Cowan) says: “Three hilarious comedians, and they’re all crazy. It’s a live show. I think I know what’s going to happen, but I’m going to be watching it with y’all. These three ladies, they go there. Amazing, funny comedians that all have different styles.”

When teasing about the musical numbers, the uber-producer confirmed that there will be a performance of

Encanto’s ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ live. “I have the first live performance of ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’…It’s going to be dope. It’s not exactly what you expect. I’ve got some surprises with this Bruno song," Packer explained.

And pushing further into the issue of musical numbers, Packer added this: “My original song nominees, it is official. I have from Encanto Sebastian Yatra, I also have Reba McEntire, Billie Eilish, and for the first time in five years, Beyonce performing on an award show. Queen B performing her song…It is a performance we’ll be talking about for quite some time.”

Representation in the Oscars is a big issue and it continues to make waves. Having Will Packer was one of the producers does indeed help move the conversation forward in a positive way. Weighing in, Packer offered this:

“Anything that I do, I’m going to make sure that it feels inclusive, that it’s for everybody. Not for a particular audience, not just for the folks that watch all the nominated films. I love that, but this is an entertainment show. This is a show that’s going to have stuff for everybody…It’s just for people who love movies, period…I’m going to have as much representation as possible. This is the first time, ever, that I have students from a HBCU as the trophy presenters.”
