Perfume Review - Enter the World of Lancôme

Trésor Eau de Parfum

When thinking about a new fragrance for the summer, my mind started drifting and imaging the scent produced by flowers,  particularly the rose. If that’s a scent that inspires you as well, I suggest  Lancôme Trésor.

This is a “loud, quiet” scent and as a Trésor product, it too symbolizes the aspects of the eternal woman. It’s a beautiful contradiction in the scent profile with Trésor Eau de Parfum offering a gentle, sensual, and lush experience.

Perfumer Sophia Grojsman created Trésor in 1990 and it’s best described as having a  floral oriental vibe with top notes as apricot blossom and rose; its heart as lilac, iris, and peach; and its base as amber, sandalwood, musk, and vanilla. Grojsman’s oeuvre is infused with a delicious combination of flowers and fruit much like Yves Saint Laurent Yvresse, and Bill Blass Nude.

A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet and there’s no getting around it. Trésor Eau de Parfum’s is primarily a rose fragrance and the bottle is stunning, and the wear is around four to five hours.

Lancôme’s Trésor Eau de Parfum is available at most department stores and comes in Eau de Parfum (30 ml to 100 ml, $49 to $89), Eau de Toilette,  and Extrait de Parfum (7.5 ml, $87). You can also find body lotion, body crème and shower gel.

The top notes are Peach, Rose, Apricot Blossom, Lilac, Pineapple, Lily-of-the-Valley, and Bergamot; the middle notes are Rose, iris, Heliotrope, and Jasmine; base notes are Peach, Apricot, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Amber, and Musk. Tresor is a treasure among perfume creations ('tresor' in French means 'treasure').

La Vie Est Belle

In falling in love with the fragrances offered by Lancôme, I stepped into the dizzying experience of La Vie Est Belle. Yummy. This floral perfume influences iris, patchouli, and Arabian jasmine sambac with sweet notes of orange blossom, warm vanilla, and spun sugar. This is a sophisticated, and modern interpretation of a warm floral, and it’s a long-lasting fragrance that stands out with a twist of gourmand, unique to its vanilla perfume base.

The luxe fragrance bottle captures the essence of happiness in the shape of a smile formed at the base, showcasing the floral women's scent within. The top notes are Black Currant and Pear; the middle notes are iris, Jasmine and Orange Blossom; the base notes are Praline, Vanilla, Patchouli, and Tonka Bean.

‘La vie est belle,’ French for ‘life is beautiful,’ is about choosing your own path to happiness. Inspired by this expression, La Vie Est Belle is an energizing perfume for women who seek happiness and aim to inspire others. The best way to wear this fragrance is to apply to the creases of your knees and elbows for a longer-lasting, stronger scent because the fragrance will be intensified by the warmth of your own body.

Idôle Aura Eau de Parfum

Hello, summer. Lancôme  Idôle Aura Eau de Parfum is designed for summer with its signature, sun-kissed floral sent, this is a perfume that eludes the essence of rose and jasmine, accented by the aroma of salted vanilla. Yes, you read that correctly. Salted vanilla.

Now, you might be asking, what's the difference between Idole and Idole Aura? Your nose knows.  Idôle's top notes of pear and bergamot make it sweet and refreshing, almost Citrusy, whereas Idôle Aura, although still sweet is much softer, more floral, and salty. On the other hand, Idôle L'Intense has a stronger opening of roses and orange which adds bitterness to the smell and is more spicy and aromatic.

The top notes are Pear and Bergamot; the middle notes are Turkish Rose, Rose de Mai, and Indian Jasmine; the base notes are White Musk and Vanilla.
