Theatre Communications Group (TCG) Gala will honor Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson


Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce that the 2023 TCG Gala: Our Stories will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023, at The Edison Ballroom in New York City. The Gala will honor Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson and will include festive performances, inspiring speakers, and a celebratory dinner with theater leaders and enthusiasts. Co-Chairs are the Broadway producer Brian Anthony Moreland and theatre publicist and past honoree Rick Miramontez.

The Gala will also celebrate the launch of TCG’s One Million Books Campaign, which will make one million TCG plays available to schools, libraries, community centers, independent bookstores, and more. TCG Books is the largest independent trade publisher of dramatic literature in North America, with 19 winners of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama on its book list. The book program commits to the life-long career of its playwrights, keeping all of their plays in print. “We’re thrilled to honor the iconic talents of philanthropists and humanitarians Samuel and LaTanya Richardson Jackson during their Broadway run of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play,” said Teresa Eyring, executive director and CEO, TCG. “TCG had a long and deep relationship with Mr. Wilson. His transformational speech, The Ground on Which I Stand, was first delivered at the 1996 TCG National Conference, and in 2007, TCG Books was honored to publish his American Century Cycle in a gorgeous, hard-cover boxed set. The Gala will also be an opportunity to lift up TCG Books’ One Million Books Campaign, ensuring readers across the country will have access to not only Wilson’s plays, but TCG Books extensive library of titles.”


A 6:00pm cocktail reception will be followed by a 7:00pm seated dinner, with entertainment beginning at 7:20pm. The Gala will also celebrate TCG’s One Million Books Campaign, which will make one million TCG plays available to schools, libraries, community centers, independent bookstores, and more.
