There is something special about the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. It signals the start of what we all hope is a successful day. I’d venture to state that this scent, which wraps around our nostrils, is akin to comfort food.

To that end, I was happily surprised by Maison Margiela 'REPLICA' Coffee Break Eau de Toilette which works for men and women. Created in 2019 (I’m late to the game, acknowledged) is created by “the nose” Jacques Cavallier.  Coffee Breaks’  top notes are Pepper, Orange Blossom, and Patchouli; middle notes are Lavender, Coffee, Milk, Tonka Bean, Siam Benzoin, and Cypriol Oil or Nagarmotha; base notes are Vanilla, Cedar, and Vetiver.

One of my favorite fragrances comes from Maison Margiela’s ‘REPLICA’ line because all of the scents are built around memories. They are designed to transport you to a specific period of time and a place. Of the fragrances that I have used so far (By The Fire Place, Bubble Bath, and Jazz Club) I would re-purchase and gift to the important people in my life. Why is a legitimate question because there are more popular fragrances that have seized the market for sure but the consistency and keeping of the implied promise of transporting the user to a time and place is why this brand has earned my respect. 

Now to REPLICA’s Coffee Break. This might be the perfect scent to step into the Spring of 2023.  Here’s why: besides being a unisex scent it tucks you into the cozy ambiance of a charming café where the air is filled with roasted Arabica beans, fine desserts garnished with lavender blossoms and frothed milk cream unite to create a delightfully pleasurable fragrance that envelops you in a relaxing way. 

In the brutal winter months the very idea of tucking into a warm coffee shop screams “comfort” and Coffee Break, the fragrance, is infused with the addictive notes of coffee that are softly blended with the tenderness of aromatic lavender. The fragrance is part of the spicy and warm family. 

The question of longevity of the REPLICA’s Coffee Break is excellent if you spray the scent directly after a morning bath, it will last 4-5 hours before needing to be reapplied. To help the scent stay longer spray it onto pulse points: your wrists, the nape of your neck, behind your knees, behind your ear, and inside your elbows.
