Academy Museum’s two-part centennial tribute - Satyajit Ray: 1970–1991

 

Satyajit Ray: 1970–1991 is the final series in the Academy Museum’s two-part centennial tribute to writer, director, and composer Satyajit Ray (1921–1992), which launched in 2021. This series, focusing on the latter half of the filmmaker’s career,  finds Ray boldly grappling with India’s caste system, India’s colonial legacy, and the tumult of everyday life. He also manages another magical musical plus a pair of delightful whodunnits. The series begins on March 24 with a double feature screening of The Adversary (Pratidwandi) (1970) and Company Limited (Seemabaddha) (1971).
