Broadway's MJ Musical Recoups Initial Investment, Heads to National Tour and West End Premiere
New York's Broadway has been rocked by the hit musical "MJ", which has announced that it has recouped its initial investment after opening at The Neil Simon Theatre in February 2022. The musical has been the most Tony Award-winning new musical of the 2022 season, having played to over 750,000 patrons since beginning performances in December 2021.
"MJ" features Elijah Rhea Johnson as Michael Jackson and is directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon, with a book written by two-time Pulitzer Prize® winner Lynn Nottage. The musical has broken the box office record at the Neil Simon Theatre ten times.
The musical is now set to launch its coast-to-coast National Tour in Chicago this August and premiere in London's West End at the Prince Edward Theatre in March 2024. Tickets for the Broadway production are available through January 7, 2024, at the Neil Simon Theatre box office and www.ticketmaster.com.
