Netflix hosted a lavish premiere screening event of the upcoming Indian series Heermandi: The Diamond Bazaar yesterday followed by a Q&A with series creator, director, and producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali, moderated by comedian and actress, Lilly Singh.
Bhansali is one of India’s most celebrated filmmakers, and Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is his first-ever series premiering globally on May 1 only on Netflix.

Bhansali’s series debut marks the first Indian series to be showcased at the historic theater, The Egyptian. The evening began with Netflix's Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria taking the stage and introducing Bhansali and the series.
The South Asian entertainment community attended in full force lending support to Bhansali and Heeramandi. Notable attendees included Nisha Ganatra, Karan Soni, Rushi Kota, Punam Patel, Joya Kazi, Tesher, Radhi Devlukia-Shetty, Kevin Kreider, and more. Netflix had the full Indian experience from hot chai and special savory Indian snacks to live Indian classical music by a group of talented musicians on sitar and tabla.
Post-screening of Episode 1, the Q&A moderated by Singh was entertaining and heartwarming with Bhansali displaying his witty side and complimenting Singh, who had her fall off her chair and onto the floor a few times.
