NEW MUSICAL 'WANTED' (FORMERLY GUN & POWDER) SET TO MAKE BROADWAY DEBUT IN 2026
Workshop Set for June 2025; Theater and Casting to Be Announced
The critically acclaimed musical formerly known as Gun & Powder has a new name—and a Broadway future. Producers announced today that the show will make its Broadway debut in 2026 under the new title WANTED. The production also welcomed new producing partners Robyn and Evan Coles of TRATE Productions and choreographer Chelsey Arce to the creative team.
A developmental workshop of WANTED is scheduled for June of this year, with theater and casting information to be announced at a later date.
“We’re thrilled to unveil the new title WANTED as we head toward Broadway,” said producers Ben Holtzman, Sammy Lopez, Fiona Howe Rudin of P3 Productions, and Robyn and Evan Coles of TRATE Productions. “This project has grown and evolved over the past few years, and we feel this new title best reflects the musical and story in its final form. Following our run at Paper Mill Playhouse, we believe the show’s story of resilience and perseverance is timelier than ever, and we remain committed to championing this bold, original, and action-packed new musical.”
Set in Texas in 1893, WANTED tells the “mostly-true” story of Mary and Martha Clarke—twin sisters who, desperate to save their family, become outlaws and ultimately legends. Straddling the line between two Americas, they risk everything to take what they’re owed. The musical is inspired by real-life events and was written by Angelica Chéri, a descendant of the Clarke sisters.
WANTED features book and lyrics by Angelica Chéri, music by Ross Baum, direction by Obie Award winner and Tony nominee Stevie Walker-Webb (Ain’t No Mo’), choreography by Chelsey Arce (Sweeney Todd, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), and music direction by Austin Cook (Some Like It Hot). Additional creative team members and casting will be announced in the coming months.
The show earned rave reviews during its run at Paper Mill Playhouse from April 4 to May 5, 2024, and was previously named a New York Times Critic’s Pick, praised as “a thrillingly original new musical” with “a powerhouse score.”
TRATE Productions, led by Robyn and Evan Coles, is a two-time Tony Award-winning producing team behind A Strange Loop (Pulitzer Prize, 2022), Parade, Cabaret, and Purpose (Pulitzer Prize, 2025). Evan Coles has also served as Associate Director on Broadway (To Kill a Mockingbird, The Piano Lesson) and in film (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Rustin).
