A Taste of Florence, in Times Square: Wine Window to Open June 18
This summer, Times Square will channel a bit of Renaissance Florence with the debut of New York City’s first buchetta del vino — a small wine window inspired by a centuries-old Italian tradition.
The new street-facing service, Buchette del Vino NYC, opens June 18 at 11 a.m. with a ceremonial “vine cutting” outside The Lambs Club at The Chatwal Hotel, between 43rd and 44th Streets. The brief public event will include remarks by representatives from the Times Square Alliance and The Lambs Club, with spokespeople available for press Q&A.
The project is the brainchild of chef Jack Logue and restaurateur Chris Miller, the team behind The Lambs Club, and draws directly from the historic buchette (or “little holes”) of Florence — stone-framed windows where noble families once sold wine directly to passersby. The tradition, revived during the pandemic and featured in Stanley Tucci’s Searching for Italy, has gained fresh global attention. Florence today boasts more than 150 such windows.
In New York, Buchette del Vino NYC will serve a curated selection of Italian wines through a custom-designed opening onto the Broadway pedestrian plaza. In addition to wine, the window will offer espresso, gelato, beer on tap, and a menu of simple Italian fare — including panini, tramezzini, fresh salads, and a rotating pasta of the month. The culinary program, backed by a team with more than 40 years of Michelin star experience, aims to balance convenience with quality.
Times Square, long positioned as “the Crossroads of the World,” is home to more than 200 eateries spanning over 30 global cuisines. Recent arrivals include the U.S. debut of I’m donut ?, the cult Japanese pastry brand from chef Ryouta Hirako, which opened in April 2025.
As a gesture to both novelty and nostalgia, Buchette del Vino NYC may offer something rare in the city: a break from the rush, and a small window into another world.
