#HAMILTON on the #TonyAwards Red Carpet

A Night of Performances, Power, and Past Meets Present

This year’s broadcast is bringing together the best of Broadway—from bold new works to iconic revivals. Audiences were treated to live performances from the casts of:

  • Buena Vista Social Club

  • Dead Outlaw

  • Death Becomes Her

  • Floyd Collins

  • Gypsy

  • Maybe Happy Ending

  • Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical

  • Pirates! The Penzance Musical

  • Sunset Boulevard

  • Just In Time

  • Real Women Have Curves

A standout moment? A show-stopping reunion of the original Broadway cast of Hamilton—including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., Renée Elise Goldsberry, Daveed Diggs, Phillipa Soo, Jonathan Groff, and more. Eyes open, theater fans: the ensemble is scheduled to perform a special anniversary tribute, reminding viewers of the lasting power of that revolutionary musical.

Hosts, Presenters, and Living Legends

Before the main event, Tony nominee Darren Criss and Tony and Grammy winner Renée Elise Goldsberry kicked things off with The Tony Awards: Act One—a live pre-show streamed free on Pluto TV starting at 6:40 PM ET / 3:40 PM PT.

The main broadcast began at 8 PM ET on CBS and Paramount+. This year’s roster of presenters was packed with Hollywood and Broadway royalty, including:
Keanu Reeves, Ariana DeBose, Bryan Cranston, Lea Michele, Samuel L. Jackson, Michelle Williams, Kelli O’Hara, Kristin Chenoweth, Ben Stiller, Jesse Eisenberg, and dozens more.

Stage icon Harvey Fierstein received the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre, and Celia Keenan-Bolger was honored with the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award.

The iconic Brian Stokes Mitchell served as this year’s show announcer.

How to Watch (and Rewatch)

Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers could stream the show live through their local CBS affiliate. Essential Plan subscribers can watch the show on demand starting Monday. First-timers were offered a seven-day free trial to explore the service and tune in to the Tonys.

The Tony Awards: Act One pre-show was available to everyone for free via Pluto TV, found on the “Live Music” channel.

The People Behind the Curtain
