A Joyful Ending—and Beginning—at The Drama Book Shop: Cast of “Maybe Happy Ending” Celebrates Tony-Winning Musical with Signing Event

The stars of Broadway’s most decorated new musical are stepping off the stage and into the heart of Manhattan's theater community for a rare, in-person celebration.

On Tuesday, July 29, at 1 p.m., the cast of Maybe Happy Ending will appear at The Drama Book Shop (266 West 39th Street) for an exclusive signing of the show’s Original Broadway Cast Recording, now available on CD and vinyl from Ghostlight Records.

The event marks a high point in the life of a musical that has quickly become a landmark of the 2024–2025 Broadway season. Featuring Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe Award winner Darren Criss and breakout star Helen J Shen, the intimate musical has amassed critical and audience acclaim since opening at the Belasco Theatre on November 12, 2024. Joining Criss and Shen at the signing will be co-stars Dez Duron and Marcus Choi, along with one of the musical’s creators and Tony Award winner, Hue Park.

Tickets to the signing must be reserved in advance and require a pre-order of the cast album, which features the lush, electro-acoustic score by Will Aronson and Hue Park, directed by Michael Arden (also a Tony winner this season for Maybe Happy Ending). The album, produced by Deborah Abramson, Ian Kagey, Aronson, and Park, includes a 26-track lineup and a bonus cut—“Why Love: Live in Amsterdam, May 1948”—performed by The Gil Brentley Jazz Orchestra.

This limited-edition release comes complete with production photography, lyrics, a synopsis, and liner notes by Hedwig and the Angry Inch songwriter Stephen Trask.

With six Tony Awards—including Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Book, Best Leading Actor (Criss), Best Direction (Arden), and Best Scenic Design (Dane Laffrey and George Reeve)—Maybe Happy Ending has solidified its place among Broadway’s elite. Additional accolades include the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award, the Drama League Award for Outstanding Production of a Musical, and top honors from the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle.

A whimsical, poignant story of love between two outdated helper robots navigating obsolescence and unexpected emotions, the show originated in South Korea in 2016. Its English-language adaptation premiered at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre in 2020 before making its way to Broadway. The result: a theatrical experience that blends futuristic storytelling with deeply human themes.

The cast also features Steven Huynh, Hannah Kevitt, Daniel May, Christopher James Tamayo, and Claire Kwon as understudies.

With a North American tour set to launch in 2026—starting in Baltimore and reaching over 30 cities nationwide—the show’s Broadway production continues at the Belasco Theatre with performances currently on sale through January 18, 2026. Day-of $40 rush tickets and a $45 digital rush are available via Telecharge, as well as a digital lottery for theatregoers seeking affordable entry to the Belasco.

Behind the scenes, Maybe Happy Ending boasts an award-winning design and creative team, including Clint Ramos (costume design), Ben Stanton (lighting), Peter Hylenski (sound), and George Reeve (video). Music supervision is by Deborah Abramson, music direction by John Yun, and casting by Craig Burns at The Telsey Office. General management is provided by Foresight Theatrical.

The original Broadway recording continues Ghostlight Records’ tradition of spotlighting new and significant voices in musical theater. The label, under the Arts Music division at Warner Music Group, has released more than 200 cast recordings, including The Band’s Visit, The Book of Mormon, and In the Heights.

Maybe Happy Ending is produced on Broadway by a consortium of industry leaders, including Jeffrey Richards, Hunter Arnold, Darren Criss, and many others. Executive producer Allan Williams rounds out the producing team.
