Warner Bros. Pictures’ “One Battle After Another,” written, directed, and produced by Paul Thomas Anderson, will make its global streaming debut exclusively on HBO Max on Friday, December 19. The film will premiere on HBO’s linear channel the following night, Saturday, December 20, at 8:00 p.m. ET.
The film leads this year’s Golden Globe nominations with nine nods, including Best Picture – Musical or Comedy. Its cast includes Academy Award, BAFTA, and Golden Globe winners Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Benicio Del Toro, alongside Regina Hall, and Golden Globe nominees Teyana Taylor and Chase Infiniti.
An American Sign Language (ASL) version of “One Battle After Another” will also stream exclusively on HBO Max. The interpretation is performed by Deaf ASL Interpreter Otis Jones (“Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire with ASL,” “It: Welcome to Derry with ASL”) and directed by Giovanni Maucere (“Superman with ASL”).
DiCaprio stars as Bob, a washed-up revolutionary living off the grid in a haze of paranoia with his sharp, self-reliant daughter, Willa (Infiniti). When his longtime nemesis (Penn) reemerges after 16 years—and Willa suddenly disappears—Bob is forced back into action, confronting both a present danger and the unresolved wreckage of his past.
“One Battle After Another” is produced by Anderson alongside Oscar and BAFTA nominees Adam Somner and Sara Murphy, with Will Weiske serving as executive producer.
