‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ final season premieres June 12 on STARZ
STARZ has released the trailer and key art for the fifth and final season of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” confirming Patina Miller’s return as Raquel “Raq” Thomas after the Season Four finale’s showdown with Kanan Stark, played by MeKai Curtis.
The final season premieres on Friday, June 12, with new episodes streaming weekly on Fridays on the STARZ app and all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms.
A prequel in the “Power” universe, “Raising Kanan” follows Kanan Stark’s rise from a Queens teenager into the ruthless figure later played by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in the original series. Season Five finds Kanan ready to claim power in Southside Queens with his new business partner, Breeze, played by Shameik Moore. However, Raq is still alive — and no longer focused on protecting her son.
The new key art reflects Kanan’s transformation throughout the series, splitting the character between Curtis, who has played young Kanan for five seasons, and Jackson, who originated the role in “Power.”
The cast also includes London Brown, Malcolm Mays, Joey Bada$$, Hailey Kilgore, Wendell Pierce, Erika Woods, Tony Danza, Joe Pantoliano, and Leslie Grossman.
Created by Sascha Penn, who serves as showrunner and executive producer, “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” is executive-produced by Courtney A. Kemp, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Mark Canton, and Chris Selak. Lionsgate Television produces the series for STARZ.
