Hadestown: The Musical Screens at Tribeca With Live Performance and Cast Conversation
A Tribeca Festival screening of Hadestown: The Musical was followed by a special live performance from Reeve Carney and Eva Noblezada, as well as a post-screening conversation with director Brett Sullivan, stage production director Rachel Chavkin and cast members André De Shields, Amber Gray, Noblezada, Patrick Page and Carney.
Directed by Sullivan, with Chavkin directing the stage production, Hadestown: The Musical is written by Anaïs Mitchell and stars Carney, De Shields, Gray, Noblezada, Page, Bella Brown, Madeline Charlemagne, and Allie Daniel. The film is produced by Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold, and Tom Kirdahy.
The live theater capture was filmed from the West End production of Hadestown, the genre-defying musical that won eight Tony Awards in 2019, including Best Musical, and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. Featuring the five original principal cast members of the Broadway company, the production blends modern American folk with New Orleans-inspired jazz to reimagine the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.
Following the intertwined stories of young lovers Orpheus and Eurydice, and of King Hades and his wife Persephone, Hadestown: The Musical takes audiences on a journey to the underworld and back.
