Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham Hit the Road in Prime Video’s “Ride or Die”
Prime Video has released the official trailer for “Ride or Die,” a new action comedy starring and executive-produced by Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham, pairing two formidable performers in a story built around friendship, danger and one very inconvenient secret.
The eight-episode series will premiere Wednesday, July 15, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories. A production from Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios, “Ride or Die” is created by Tessa Coates, who executive produces alongside showrunner Matt Miller and director Peyton Reed.
The series follows best friends Debbie Claybourne, played by Spencer, and Judith Burton, played by Waddingham, who believe they know everything about each other. That illusion collapses when Debbie discovers that Judith is an international assassin. After a mysterious figure from Judith’s past resurfaces and a hit goes badly wrong, both women are forced into a chaotic escape across Europe, pursued by law enforcement, highly trained assassins and criminals with their own reasons for catching them.
The premise gives Spencer and Waddingham room to play inside a familiar action-comedy frame while shifting the emotional center toward female friendship, loyalty, and the unnerving discovery that the person closest to you may have been living an entirely different life.
“Ride or Die” also stars Ed Skrein as Billy, Calam Lynch as Sam, Savannah Steyn as Queenie, Jamie Parker as David and Jacky Ido as Jacques, with Sylvia Hoeks as Ana and Bill Nighy as The Director.
The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios, Amazon MGM Studios, Andy and Barbara Muschietti’s Double Dream and Spencer’s Orit Entertainment. Executive producers include Coates, Miller and Reed; Spencer for Orit Entertainment; Waddingham; Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti and Irene Yeung for Double Dream; Brian Clisham; and Stephanie Kluft.
