Costume designer and activist Qween Jean made history at the Tony Awards, earning dual nominations in the same year and winning for Cats: The Jellicle Ball. She was nominated for both Best Costume Design of a Musical for Cats: The Jellicle Ball and Best Costume Design of a Play for Liberation, becoming the first out Black trans woman to be nominated in either of the Tony costume categories.
