'Children of Blood and Bone' Brings Tomi Adeyemi’s Epic Fantasy to Theaters in 2027
The world of Orïsha is coming to the big screen.
Paramount Pictures’ “Children of Blood and Bone,” directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, will open exclusively in theaters, Dolby Cinema, premium large formats and IMAX on Jan. 15, 2027.
Based on Tomi Adeyemi’s acclaimed fantasy novel, the film follows a young woman on a dangerous quest to restore the magic violently taken from her people. Joined by her brother and the children of the king, she must challenge a brutal ruler and fight for the future of Orïsha.
Prince-Bythewood and Adeyemi wrote the screenplay for the epic fantasy adaptation, which brings together a major international cast led by Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg and Tosin Cole.
The ensemble also includes Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Zackary Momoh, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Idris Elba and Viola Davis, along with Saniyya Sidney, Diaana Babnicova, Bukky Bakray, Ayra Starr, Shamz Garuba, Kola Bodunde, Pamilerin Afolake Ayodeji and Tèmítópé Fágbénlé.
With its African-inspired fantasy world, battle for stolen magic and expansive cast, “Children of Blood and Bone” is positioned as one of the major theatrical fantasy releases of 2027.
