‘Les Misérables: The Arena Concert Spectacular’ Ends World Tour at Radio City Music Hall

After traveling more than 40,000 miles across 17 countries and regions, the global production concluded its two-year run with its first U.S. engagement in New York City.

After two years, more than 40,000 miles and stops across 17 countries and regions, Les Misérables: The Arena Concert Spectacular brought its world tour to a close at Radio City Music Hall — marking the production’s first-ever U.S. engagement.

The massive touring production traveled with 13 trucks and shipping containers, included 21 nationalities in its company, and relied on approximately 2,400 local crew members across its international journey. Stops included the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, Mainland China, the Philippines, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan and more before its finale in New York.

“The World Arena Tour of Les Mis … could not have had a more spectacular finale than playing the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York,” said producer Cameron Mackintosh, who praised the more than 150 performers, musicians and production staff who helped bring the concert around the world.

The Radio City engagement welcomed more than 117,000 fans, according to Jim Glancy, co-president of The Bowery Presents, who called the production “the theatrical event of the summer.”

Among the notable guests attending were Bernadette Peters, Luke Evans, Neil Patrick Harris, Rachel Zegler, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Hilarie Burton Morgan, Gaten Matarazzo, Reeve Carney, Eva Noblezada, Ben Vereen and Lea Salonga.

The cast featured a deep bench of Les Misérables veterans and theater stars. Alfie Boe, Killian Donnelly and Gerónimo Rauch shared the role of Jean Valjean, while Bradley Jaden and Jeremy Secomb alternated as Javert. Samantha Barks starred as Fantine, Matt Lucas as Thénardier and Marina Prior as Madame Thénardier.

Also featured were Jac Yarrow as Marius, Beatrice Penny-Touré as Cosette, Shan Ako as Éponine and Christian Mark Gibbs as Enjolras, leading an onstage company of more than 65 cast and orchestra members.

Three-time Olivier Award winner Philip Quast, who originated Javert in the 1987 Australian production and later appeared in the 10th Anniversary Concert, returned as the Bishop of Digne.

New York audiences also heard the iconic Les Misérables score through Radio City Music Hall’s Sphere Immersive Sound system, pairing one of musical theater’s most recognizable scores with the landmark venue’s contemporary audio technology.

After circling the globe for two years, Les Misérables: The Arena Concert Spectacular ended its journey where spectacle has long felt at home: New York City.
