TIFF 2026 Centrepiece lineup features 54 films from 50 countries
The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has announced the official selections for its 51st Centrepiece program, featuring 54 films from filmmakers representing 50 countries.
The festival’s 2026 Centrepiece program includes world premieres, acclaimed international films, a strong Canadian slate, and a record eight animated features.
Presented by Intrepid Travel, Centrepiece is the main section of the festival and one of the largest 2026 showcases of international cinema. This year’s lineup includes films from Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, the Central African Republic, Chad, China, Colombia, Côte d’Ivoire, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Nigeria, Palestine, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and other countries.
The program brings together new work from established filmmakers and TIFF favorites, including Anthony Chen, Kamila Andini, Louis Clichy, Marie Clements, Diego Luna, Mahamat-Saleh Haroun, Avi Nesher, Banjong Pisanthanakun, Karthik Subbaraj, Neto Villalobos Brenes, Valeska Grisebach, and Yonfan.
Canadian filmmakers featured in Centrepiece include David Bezmozgis, Rodrigo Barriuso, Juan Andrés Arango, Cody Lightning, Marie Clements, Ron Murphy, Serville Poblete, Rémi St-Michel, and Alexandre Franchi.
TIFF 2026 Centrepiece World Premieres
Among the anticipated world premieres are “Dorothy,” directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Oscar winner Guneet Monga; Kamila Andini’s “Four Seasons in Java”; Banjong Pisanthanakun’s “Inherit”; Kim Bartley’s “Lemonade”; and Kyu Bock Youm’s “Long Long Night.”
Additional world premieres include:
- “Love is the monster,” directed by Neto Villalobos Brenes
- “Our Loves,” directed by Avi Nesher
- “The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives,” directed by Daniel Oriahi
- “The Surgeon,” directed by Roshan Sethi
- “Trash Mountain,” directed by Kris Rey
Films arriving at TIFF after appearances on the international festival circuit include Marie-Clementine Dusabejambo’s “Ben’Imana,” Muayad Alayan’s “Conversation With The Sea,” Josef Kubota Wladyka’s “Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!,” Louis Clichy’s “Iron Boy,” Marine Atlan’s “La Gradiva,” Valeska Grisebach’s “The Dreamed Adventure,” and May el-Toukhy’s “Woman Unknown.”

2026 TIFF sets animation record
TIFF’s 2026 Centrepiece program includes a record eight animated features, marking the largest animation slate in the section’s history. Along with “Iron Boy” and “Long Long Night,” the animated selections include Louise Bagnall’s “Julián,” Xu Zao’s “Light Pillar,” Julien Chheng’s “Muyi,” Leah Nelson’s “Tangles,” Ervin Han and Raúl García’s “The Violinist,” and Sébastien Laudenbach’s “Viva Carmen.”
The films span hand-drawn animation, traditional 2D techniques, computer-generated imagery, and new interpretations of familiar stories, including Laudenbach’s animated reimagining of Georges Bizet’s opera “Carmen.”
