VOCES Shorts’ Season 3 Brings Six Latino Films to PBS
Latino Public Broadcasting’s digital series explores ambition, identity, migration, family, and the meaning of home through documentary and narrative filmmaking.
“VOCES Shorts” returns for its third season, featuring six original short films premiering from September 23 through November 4, 2026, on PBS.org and the PBS App. Announced in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the series is produced and curated by Latino Public Broadcasting.
Moving between the United States, Mexico and Guatemala, the collection introduces characters and communities rarely centered on screen while giving emerging Latino filmmakers a national platform.
‘First It Was My Dream’ Opens the Season
The season launched September 23 on PBS.org and the PBS App with “First It Was My Dream.” Directed by Shaena Golden and produced by Dylan Golden and Amanda Sarabia, the film follows Andy Dominguez, an immigrant boxer from Mexico working to establish himself in the sport while training at Mendez Gym and navigating the immigration system.
“With our third season of VOCES SHORTS, we are amplifying a diverse set of young and emerging Latino filmmakers who are telling compelling stories about their communities,” said Luis Ortiz, LPB’s managing director and the series producer. “These six stories reflect journeys and experiences that will resonate with audiences young and old. We hope these will also foster a desire to learn more.”
Where to Watch ‘VOCES Shorts’
