Cube Art Fair Returns to NYC:

A Public Art Experience Like No Other

Running through September 8, Cube Art Fair, the world’s largest public art fair, returns to New York City, coinciding with the highly anticipated Armory Week.

Launched in 2016, with in-person shows in Brussels and New York, Cube Art Fair adapted during the pandemic by introducing their Public Art Fair, an immersive digital experience that transformed streets into open-air galleries. What started as a response to the global shutdown has now become an exciting staple in the art world.

This year’s 11th edition pushes the boundaries of accessibility by making art a dynamic part of public life. This year, Cube Art Fair will take over Times Square, showcasing works from internationally acclaimed contemporary artists on a massive 15,000-square-foot billboard.

New Yorkers and visitors alike can experience Cube Art Fair from September 4-8, 2024, in the heart of Times Square. Featured artists include Alexandre Vaxellaire, Andreas Anastasis, Charles Molina, Fabrice Debatty, Fernando Galligani, Gregory Watin, Ian Rayer Smith, Marcello Maugeri, Marit Geraldine Bostad, Nic Gaunt, Noir Artist, Philippe Shangti, Robert Leone, Stripmall Guy, and Tigran Tsitoghdzyan.

Luciana Gomez Q&A

Q: What inspired you to participate in Cube Art Fair, and what are you looking forward to during your participation?

A: Participating in Cube Art Fair feels like a natural extension of my journey as an artist. I’ve always believed that art is a powerful language, capable of sparking conversations with the public. Having my work seen by a wide audience on such a large scale, in one of the most iconic places in the world, it’s a way to elevate the dialogue to another level. I can’t help feeling excited about the potential that Cube Art Fair holds for me, and I look forward to seeing it live on September 4.

Q: Can you describe the piece you’re showcasing at Cube Art Fair?

A: The centerpiece I'll be showing is called "Instinto Primario" (Primary Instinct), a 150x200cm oil and pen on canvas piece. This artwork explores our deepest, most basic instincts. It’s about what makes us human—our strengths, weaknesses, and flaws. Through this piece, I’m trying to show us as we really are—honest and real. It’s a reminder that deep down, we all share the same human connections.

Q: The art industry has often been criticized for its exclusivity. Why is it important to participate in Cube Art Fair, making art more inclusive and accessible for everyone?

A: It’s true that the art industry is often centered around galleries and exclusive settings, which are essential for setting trends and cultivating deep appreciation. However, it’s also important to find innovative ways to share creativity with everyone. Cube Art Fair shows how the art industry is growing by making art more inclusive. Reaching people in unexpected ways and places is what I love most about Cube Art Fair’s program.

Q: In what ways do you see your work contributing to the representation of BIPOC voices in art?

A: My work is rooted in the celebration and amplification of BIPOC voices and experiences. Art has a unique power to convey stories that might otherwise go unheard. Through my creations, I strive to reflect the beauty and resilience within BIPOC communities, while engaging viewers in meaningful conversations about identity, heritage, and unity.

Gregoire Vogelsang Q&A

Q: How does Cube Art Fair support and promote BIPOC artists? Which BIPOC artists are featured in this year’s fair?

A: Cube Art Fair is committed to providing a platform where artists from all backgrounds can be celebrated in front of a wider audience. This year, we are thrilled to feature exceptional BIPOC artists such as Luciana Gómez, a contemporary Argentine artist whose work explores themes of identity and resilience, and Art by Fez, known for her vibrant and socially conscious pieces. Diversity in art inspires dialogue, and we’re proud to support these voices.

Q: How do you find artists to feature in the art fair, and how can they apply?

A: It’s a long but thrilling process. We search for art that inspires positivity and connects with the public. Sometimes we reach out to artists whose work captivates us, while other times artists apply through our website. We are always open to new discoveries and spontaneous submissions.

Q: The art industry has been criticized for exclusivity. How does Cube Art Fair address these issues and make art more inclusive and accessible?

A: Our approach isn’t to oppose the traditional art model but to enhance it by creating new opportunities for both artists and the public to connect. While established galleries and exclusive events have their place, we believe in expanding the experience. By bringing art into public areas, Cube Art Fair ensures that people from all backgrounds can engage with it, breaking down barriers and making art more inclusive.

Cube Art Fair continues to be a powerful force in making contemporary art accessible, inviting everyone to engage with creativity in the most public and iconic spaces. Be sure to catch this year’s edition in Times Square from September 4-8, 2024.
