The exclusive gathering included a diverse mix of Hollywood talent, such as Ruth E. Carter, Ava DuVernay, Amy Adams, Regina King, Mila Kunis, Gal Gadot, and Olivia Wilde, alongside industry leaders, Academy governors, and creative visionaries. Among the highlights was an inspiring keynote by Emmy- and Grammy-nominated artist Selena Gomez, who spoke passionately about the power of women in cinema.

Academy President Janet Yang opened the luncheon with remarks emphasizing the significance of the day:

"Today, we celebrated the power and unity of women in film as we came together from every discipline within our industry to honor emerging filmmakers who are inspiring the future of cinema. A special thank you to CHANEL for their generous support and shared commitment to amplifying the voices of talented women filmmakers worldwide."

Honoring Emerging Talent

This year’s Academy Gold Fellowship for Women honorees were Raha Amirfazli and Shadi Karamroudi, two filmmakers whose exceptional talent and dedication have earned them global recognition.

  • Raha Amirfazli, a New York-based Iranian writer, director, and producer, has had her work showcased at prestigious festivals, including Sundance and LA Shorts. Her debut feature, In the Land of Brothers, premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, earning her the Directing Award in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition.

  • Shadi Karamroudi, an actress, director, writer, and producer from Tehran, has made her mark through both acting and filmmaking. Her script I Can Hear You Whispering was developed as part of the Berlinale Talents Labs, further solidifying her reputation as a creative force in international cinema.

The Academy Gold Fellowship for Women offers a year of mentorship, financial support, and unparalleled networking opportunities to help recipients advance their careers. This initiative is part of the Academy’s ongoing efforts to foster diversity, inclusion, and innovation in the film industry.

The partnership with CHANEL underscores the brand’s deep connection to cinema and its unwavering support for women in the arts. Today, CHANEL continues to champion women’s voices in cinema through initiatives like the Academy Gold Fellowship for Women.

A Vision for the Future

As the luncheon came to a close, attendees left with a renewed sense of purpose, inspired by the stories and achievements of the honorees and the women gathered in the room.
