Broadway’s Tony Award®-winning Best Musical Hadestown is set to welcome three new powerhouse performers to its cast beginning January 14, 2025. Hailey Kilgore, Carlos Valdes, and Tom Hewitt will join the production in their respective roles of Eurydice, Orpheus, and Hades, bringing fresh energy and talent to the stage.
Kilgore, a Tony Award nominee for her role as Ti Moune in Once on This Island, will take on the role of Eurydice. Valdes, best known for his role in The Flash and recent starring role in the Hulu musical series Up Here, will portray Orpheus. Hewitt, a Broadway veteran with numerous credits including Chicago and Jesus Christ Superstar, will return to Hadestown as Hades. These three talented actors succeed Maia Reficco, Jordan Fisher, and Phillip Boykin, who will depart the production on January 12, 2025.
Hadestown, currently celebrating its 5th year on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre, tells the timeless story of two love stories set in the underworld. Blending modern folk music with New Orleans-inspired jazz, the musical reimagines the ancient myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, alongside the complex relationship between Hades and Persephone. Written by Anaïs Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin, Hadestown has been lauded for its unique narrative and powerful performances, winning both Tony and Grammy Awards.
The new cast members will join the current ensemble, which includes Jordan Fisher as Orpheus, Lillias White as Hermes, Phillip Boykin as Hades, Maia Reficco as Eurydice, and Allison Russell as Persephone, among others. About the New Cast Members:
Hailey Kilgore is an American singer, dancer, and actress who earned Tony and Grammy nominations for her portrayal of Ti Moune in the Broadway revival of Once on This Island. She has also starred in films such as Respect and Cinnamon, which debuted at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival. On TV, Hailey currently stars as Jukebox in Power Book III: Raising Kanan and has appeared in Amazing Stories and The Village. Hailey's debut EP, Desire and Devotion, was released in 2023.
Carlos Valdes is a Colombian-American actor and singer who gained recognition for his role as Cisco Ramon / Vibe on The Flash and Arrow. He has also starred in Up Here, the Hulu musical series produced by Tommy Kail and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. Valdes made his Broadway debut in Once and toured with the national production of Jersey Boys.
Tom Hewitt is a Broadway legend whose extensive credits include Hades in Hadestown, Komarovsky in Doctor Zhivago, and Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar. His other Broadway roles include Billy Flynn in Chicago, Dracula in Dracula: The Musical, and Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Show. Hewitt has performed in numerous national tours and regional theaters, and has appeared in TV series such as Law & Order and Frasier.
