The inspirational docuseries “Harlem Ice,” premiering February 12 on Disney+
is produced by Disney Branded Television, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, and Robin Roberts and directed by Samantha Knowles (“Black and Missing”).
“Harlem Ice” is a five-part documentary series highlighting the moving stories of the coaches and girls of Figure Skating in Harlem as they prepare for competitions, performances, and a life-changing global experience.
Through their eyes, we experience the highs and lows of the Figure Skating in Harlem organization’s season and the unique experiences they have as girls of color breaking the “ice ceiling” and gaining access to a global stage. We follow sisters Tori and Ashley, newbie Adrianna, and senior Ariyana to see how each girl makes her mark and helps to put Harlem’s ice on the map.
As a first-of-its-kind program, Figure Skating in Harlem is a long-standing organization based in New York that successfully mentors young girls of color in underprivileged communities, helping to transform their lives and grow in confidence, leadership, and academic achievement for their futures.
All five episodes will premiere on February 12, 2025, on Disney+.
The original docuseries from Disney Branded Television is produced by Imagine Documentaries who previously produced the critically acclaimed Disney+ docuseries “On Point” and “Choir.” The series is executive produced by Imagine Documentaries’ Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Sara Bernstein, Justin Wilkes, and Meredith Kaulfers, Emmy-award winning journalist Robin Roberts, Geeta Gandbhir, and co-executive produced by Alisa Payne.
