Some musicals fade. Hadestown isn’t one of them. This show has the kind of shelf life that matters. You can know the songs, read the synopsis, even study the script—but when you experience Hadestown in person, something sparks. And that spark lingers. It stays with you.
No matter how many times I’ve seen it, Hadestown continues to surprise me. It’s my favorite musical for a reason. And tonight, the show adds new fire to the stage.
Beginning tonight, April 22, Phillip Boykin and KC Dela Cruz step into the roles of Hades and Eurydice in the Tony Award-winning musical Hadestown.

Boykin returns to the role of Hades through August 31, 2025, bringing his deep voice and commanding presence back to the underworld. KC Dela Cruz, a current ensemble member, now takes center stage as Eurydice through May 4.
From May 6, Myra Molloy will take over as Eurydice. And between May 20–June 1, Matthew Patrick Quinn will portray Hades.
Still running strong in its sixth year at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 W. 48th Street), Hadestown isn’t just a Broadway hit. It’s a global phenomenon. With productions launching in Sydney, Melbourne, and Amsterdam this spring—and a North American tour recently wrapped—this story continues to move audiences around the world.
Merle Dandridge as Persephone
Carlos Valdes as Orpheus
…and the unforgettable Fates: Marla Louissaint, Jessie Shelton, and Kay Trinidad.
The musical, created by singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and brought to life on stage with director Rachel Chavkin, blends modern folk with New Orleans jazz to retell an ancient myth. The result? A show that’s timeless, tender, and fiercely alive.
The story follows two entwined love stories—Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone—and takes the audience on a powerful journey to the underworld and back.
